The Eleventh Month

A baby is fond of his surrounding investigation: he likes to “travel” around a big ball, some pieces of furniture, different people. He would play peacefully and mumble something up until his mom or dad would stay with him.

Physical Development
By the end of your baby’s first year of life his growth and weight gaining tempos slow down as a rule. But his moving and mental activity becomes more developed. During this month your little one gains about 0, 8 pounds, and he usually becomes no more than half an inch longer. The general height and weight indexes gradually come to the standard of a child of one year of age.

Moving Activity
From now and on every day of your little creature becomes full of achievements and has the “No Moment of Rest” motto. At this age your baby may begin to walk independently, as traveling along different pieces of furniture will finally end up by standing on foot without any assistance or support. At first your little baby makes one step, then, after he has had a little rest and got used to walking without your help he makes his second step, and so on he would keep moving by himself. Right now it is high time to choose your baby’s first pair of shoes! His shoes are not to be very hard; especially it concerns the foot area, as its muscles are not formed enough yet, so you may not get worried about the flat – foot development.

It is not a problem to stand up from a sitting position for your baby any more; he can sit down easily as well. A baby is not afraid to sit down from a standing position, if he has investigated the “sitting place” with his eyes at first. Your little one’s movements will often remind your own ones; so, if you demonstrated him the TV – set turning on process several time, your baby will be able to do it soon as well.

The height of a chair, a table or a window – sill is overcome with great pleasure. Your young explorer’s legs help him to get back on a floor. At first a baby investigates the floor and the height from a chair, and then he gets one of his legs down, trying to feel the solid surface. If he does not manage to feel the floor, you will be called for a help with a piercing cry.

It is a pity, but such kinds of maneuvers never happen without fallings. You should behave smartly, do not be in a hurry to calm your baby down, remember, that your little one is to become a person, staunch to the fate (of course, if your little child did not get seriously damaged). What you should do is to draw your baby’s attention by something interesting and exciting, and you will see his laugh as a result of it.

Neither your baby’s independent walk, nor the walk with a support is confident so far. Your little son or daughter need your assistance yet. Hold a baby under his arm – pits or keep his hands in yours, and lessen your support with every coming day. But you should always keep in mind, that a little baby can easily fall down and hurt himself without your assistance provided. It may happen so, that after a failure a child can be refusing to walk up to several weeks, as his fair has won a victory over his interest to move independently! Do not get worried, as it is a temporal phenomenon, soon your baby will forget his everything bad and will be eager to walk again. Your task is to stimulate your little one’s wish to walk by a rich praising for every successful step of his.

Most babies of this age stay with their previous vocabulary, but sometimes it may get a little bit wider. According with the investigation data the vocabulary volume and the skill to talk during the first year of a baby’s life manifest no level of his future mental development. Some kids begin to talk only at the age of two years, and they become very talented people, others do vice versa.

Do not forget, that your son or daughter enrich his or her passive vocabulary with every passing day. They remember the names and connect them with definite subjects. Now it is high time to teach your baby to be polite. Pay his attention at the words like ”please”, “thank you” “you are welcome”, “not at all”, etc. in order to succeed, you should use these words while communicating with other people, and with your little child as well, but it may happen, that a baby will do nothing in respond , as he may be concentrated at something completely different.
