Telangiosis Telangiosis means enlarged skin capillaries, leftovers of the embryonic vessels. As a rule they are situated in the occiput, forehead, and eyelids areas. They look like red or blue spots and are of different size and incorrect shape.
Toxic Erytherma Some whitish nodules surrounded by the hyperemia nimbuses quite often appear on the baby’s skin by the 4th – 5th day after his arrival. This rash looks like nettle marks; it continues no more than 2 – 3 days and then it complebely vanishes. The reason of toxic erytherma is considered to be some food, physical, bacterial allergic reaction. As a rule toxic erytherma does not get reflected on the baby’s health condition, and it usually requires no treatment to be provided, but in case of it lasting more than 3 days, doctors may prescribe some antiallergilc medicine.
Transient Fever As a rule transient fever develops in case of metabolic process violation during first 3 -4 days after baby’s arrival. Babies of a bigger size more often suffer from it. Its reason is in the violation of taking care of a newborn baby, which leads to his organism dehydration. A newborn baby loses much of his weight, his temperature rises, sometimes up to 104 degrees F; he may even have cramps.
A baby, who suffers from transient fever, has a great liquid loss, his organism’s proteins get ruined, his thermoregulation is upset, and there may even be light brain blood circulation violation. Transient fever is diagnosed after all other reasons of high temperature are eliminated. The necessary treatment lies in the elimination of all factors, which favour the transient fever appearance. But first of all baby’s organism is to receive plenty of food and liquid.
Physiological Icterus Most newborn babies (60 – 70 % of them) suffer from their skin and mucous membranes getting of a yellowish colour by the 2nd – 3rd day after their arrival. During this period of time somewhat hightened consistence of bilirubin is observed in the blood of newborn babies. Defecations are not colourless, urine is of a normal colour as well. There are no inner organs deviations observed.
The physiological icterus appearance is explained by some functional baby’s liver immatureness. The icterus duration depends on its intensity. It usually disappears by the 2nd week of baby’s life. Those babies, who were born before their natural term, who have insufficient weight, who were born from ill mothers may suffer from icterus during 2 – 4 weeks after their arrival. Long lasting icterus needs some treatment to be conducted.
Physiological Skin Catarrh Newborn babies suffer from skin hyperemia quite often. Sometimes it is of a blueish shadow, especiallyin the hands and feet areas. This effect appears because of significant skin capillaries distention and it lasts from several hours up to 2 – 3 days. After that the corneous skin layer peeling occurs.
