6. Smoke detectors 101. Tell your child / children about smoke detectors. Your youngsters are to be aware for what purpose they are installed, how they work, and what sound they make. Kids are to be able to distinguish the sound, which goes off in case of a fire, and it is considered to be the part of fire safety for children. Being a parent, you are to change batteries regularly in order to avoid missing the alarm because batteries went out.
7. “OUT” does mean, “STAY OUT!” Your child / children must be aware that as soon as they got out of the burning building, they are to go to the designated place in order to tell about the fire. Moreover, children are never to come back inside! In case if there is someone disable or some pet left at home children are to inform the firefighters about or some adult people about it.
8. It is in the touch. Your child / children are to know how the door may be checked if they are hot or not and how should another way out is to be found in case of emergency. Moreover, teach your youngsters how to use a towel for handling, touching or grabbing things to avoid being burnt. They should also be able to use the towel as a protection of their faces.
9. Stop drop and roll. It is extremely important to teach you child / children what to do in case if their clothes catch fire. You are to be 100% sure, they realize, what the “STOP, DROP and ROLL” rule means. Most fire – related injuries are possible to avoid or minimized greatly, if children applied this advice instead of running.
10. Practice Every Month. You should work out your escape plan at least two – three times a year. This should be a part of fire safety for children, which is to be conducted monthly. Parents, other adult relatives, babysitters are to practice fire drills and alter areas, which may be affected by fire.
